Frogs that I have talked about in other articles are made of Soft Plastic
and I have found Kicker Fish Bait Company to have the best so far.
I can fish them on Top Water or let them sink.
The great things about these frogs are they last Bass after Bass. You will
see a lot of the Soft Plastic Baits will catch fish, but will not last that long as the fish tear them up
real fast.
Another one of my favorites is the Strike King 3X
ZTOO which looks like a
shad, and other companies call them flukes.
This is a very hot Soft Plastic that I have described in another article
about putting three on one line with no weight and catching two to three
bass in one cast.
I like the ones that are Blue Glimmer Pearl, watermelon seed, and Green
Pumpkin with Red Flake design.
Check out my How To Choose Lure Colors web page then try
out different colors in your area; also dip the tails in Dip It. Keep saying to yourself Soft Plastic is
really good year round. When nothing else works, try Soft Plastic.
Crawdads or Crawbugs as some anglers call
them are my Number one bait for the Spring Time. That is when they are getting out from the winters nap that
they have taken in the ROCKS.
I guess I do not need to tell you where to fish these baits and do not for
get to add what ever fish attractant you like Garlic, Bang, Shad or Lunker Sauce.
Here is a secret from Steve's Tackle Box with the Garlic
Spray.
Instead of getting it from the bait shop, next time you’re at the grocery
store, pick up a can of Pam Garlic scent, it is cheaper and does the same job.
Zoom 3-1/2 Inch Tube Baits are great items to have on
hand especially in the spring time.
They are almost like the Crawdad, but have no arms sticking
out.
Tube Baits come in solid bodies or ribbed bodies and have a tassel off the tail. Most of them
have hollow bodies so you can insert a rattle/cotton ball soaked in a scent and an ear plug to allow it to
float. You can come up with something to insert into the tube that will allow you to catch more
fish.
The last bait I will cover in this article is the Storm WildEye
Swim Shad . I like this in the
smaller 2 - 3 inch size with the color preferences being either the Shad or Blue Gill Color and here again I
did the tails in Dip It.
I have found that they work great at Pick Wick Lake for Small Mouth bass
that are holding in the outside edge of the grass. Storm makes them in all different sizes but I have chosen
the 2" or 3" sizes. I cast them on an Open Face Spinning Rod, because they are lighter lures and until you
become real good with a bait caster I recommend a Spinning Rod.
Almost any kind of creature that you can come up with is made of Soft
Plastic and worth giving them a shot in your favorite lake.
If you have a special lure or favorite bass lure that you would like me to
try out and feature it on my website, let me hear from you.
